History
Chrysanthemum grower Hein Straathof - father of the current owner Hans Straathof - started his career in 1960 by propagating high-quality varieties of chrysanthemum cuttings. At first, he did it for personal use, but he later started growing for the commercial market. In the middle of the 1960s, the market took a huge upturn with the arrival of year-round chrysanthemums, and the business began to exclusively focus on these types of flower.
In 1997, Hans Straathof sold this Dutch activities to Kirin Agribio in order to work together far more intensively with Fides in Europe, a leading breeder of chrysanthemums and many other pot plants. Straathof Plants then devoted itself to marketing cut chrysanthemums as the exclusive distributor of Fides. These chrysanthemum cuttings were grown in, amongst others, Central and East Africa and distributed primarily in southern Europe. This ensured that in the years that followed, Straathof Plants developed into the successful company that it is today. We are your reliable and professional partner for the purchasing of chrysanthemum cuttings for all Dutch breeders, especially Fides, Dekker, Floritec and Royal van Zanten.
